2012 Paralympic Experience

The 2012 Paralympic Experience will be held, Saturday, June 16th.

The purpose of the Paralympic Experience is to introduce the community at-large, to the opportunities and benefits of adaptive sports.   Individuals, family members, athletes, teachers, coaches….ANYONE (age 12 and over) is invited to this *free* event.  We will feature rowing demonstrations, opportunities to kayak, canoe and stand up paddle; and review of adaptive and non-adaptive sports equipment in use.

The Paralympic Experience is sponsored by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) / Paralympic Division, Texas Rowing For All~Paralympic Sport Austin and the Texas Rowing Center.

This year is a very special year for Texas Rowing For All, as one of our rowing athletes, Eric McDaniel will be competing in the Paralympic division of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.

As part of the experience, participants will have opportunities also to meet Paralympians, National Rowing Team members, coaches, local adaptive coaching staff & Texas Rowing For All Board members.

EARLY REGISTRATION   is Strongly Encouraged!

Paralympic Experience Schedule

8:00 am         Walk-Up Registration starts on-site at Texas Rowing Center  

8:30 am         Opening Ceromonies

8:45 am         Hands on opportunities to try out different Paralympic water sports commence at

10:30 am      Rowing Demonstration by Adaptive Athletes

 10:45 am       Snack Break

11:00 am       USOC / Paralympic Speaker  

11:30 am       Questions & Answers  (Paralympic Speaker and representatives from Texas Rowing For All ~ Paralympic Sport)

12:00 pm      Closing ceremonies

12:15-1:30 pm   Wounded Warrior Family Paddle (kayak / canoe)  (REGISTRATION ***must be completed prior to event).
